This whimsical image of sea lions was taken in the Sea of Cortez (aka the Gulf of California). Sea lions are very social animals, so it's not unusual to see them in groups. Unlike other types of seals, sea lions have power foreflippers which propel them forward when swimming along with a flexible spine which allows them to be remarkably fluid beneath the water. This curious group was just below the surface checking out our group of divers.
